Welcome to the Storytellers of Nottingham! Whether you stumbled on us purely by chance, or actively sought us out, you made it to our web site. We hope you will stay, peruse the pages for a while and let us tell you a bit about what we get up to. In essence we are a group of writers who choose to perform our work. Some of us write stories specifically to perform, others write the stories and then decide to turn them into a performance. But the basic principle is that we deliver a polished piece to an audience, and have a lot of fun doing it. Storytelling is an old art form, as old as time itself. It's something inherent in human nature, and over time we've all (yes, that's you out there too) become experts at it. For how would we survive as a race without passing on our beliefs, our tales, our insights onto the next generation. We are not traditional tellers, although we do sometimes tell traditional tales. We all work very differently and write in varying styles, but this adds to the entertainment and provides an eclectic experience.
Our haunt for the evening is usually Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem and the room of choice is the Rock Lounge, arguably the most haunted room in the Trip. The Trip dates from the eleventh century and evidence of its long and turbulent past is all around you as you listen to the tales on offer. This setting is unique in all England and the storytellers will be pleased to tell you some of the horrible history of the Trip when they unwind with a pint after telling their tales. Listen carefully but beware ghostly things have occured as the evening takes place, there are more listeners to the tales than are visible on these nights. So take a look through our pages, read about our news and forthcoming events, and come and see us of an evening. Who knows we may be able to tempt you to take the floor! |
